The Rider
Joseph Murphy is a London Olympian and one of Ireland's leading event riders. He represented Ireland at the 2012 London Olympics with Electric Cruise, posting one of only five clear cross country jumping rounds and two clear show jumping rounds.
Joseph has competed for Ireland at Olympic, World and European Championships and at numerous Nations Cups, winning at Boekelo CCI3*. He held the title of Eventing Ireland's leading rider from 2012 to 2017, accumulating the most National and International points in those years.
He was shortlisted for the 2016 Rio Olympics and continues to compete at the highest level, including Badminton, Burghley, Luhmühlen and Pau CCI5* events.

Background
Joseph was born in Mullingar, Co Westmeath, in middle Ireland. He has an identical twin brother named Ciaran, and the family comes from a GAA football background.
His love affair with horses began through hunting. He and his brother bought their first horse, Hayes — an Irish Sport Horse — with a Credit Union loan and Joseph quickly became known locally for seeking catch rides whenever he could. He also holds a jockey licence (winning at point-to-points) and is a qualified quantity surveyor.

Training & Mentorship
Joseph trained for twelve years under Dot Love, a Danish event rider at Charlestown Stud. Today he is a Horse Sport Ireland Level 3 Coach and teaches riders of all levels across Ireland, the UK and the USA.
In addition to his own competition and production yard, Joseph works with HorsePower Equestrian in Ocala, Florida.
Off The Yard
Joseph lives in County Down, Northern Ireland on the shorelines of Strangford Lough with his wife Jill, daughter Daisy, and their terriers. The yard is a true family operation built around a love of horses and the eventing community.
